Canon A-1

The Canon A-1 is a semi-professional 35mm SLR and was the top model of the A series. The A-1 was built from 1978 to 1985 and features Canon FD bayonet, which is backward compatible with previous FL-bayonet. Besides the shutter speed-priority AE and aperture-priority AE modes, the A-1 featured the first fully automatic program AE mode - aperture and shutter speed are automatically determined by the microprocessor of the camera. Furthermore, it was the first camera that displays the shutter speed and aperture value using 7-segment LEDs in the viewfinder area.
